We were tasked with creating the interior design for this Victorian style living room in Nottingham. The brief was to create a brand new living room design which was sympathetic to the period of the property.
The living room design consisted of a full spatial reconfiguration and new décor.
The walls were the starting point for the design. The transformative powers of walls are often underestimated as the living room originally had some very dark colours. As a result of this, the space felt swamped. In turn, we opted for warm whites to make the walls feel soothing and make the most of the light in this south facing room. The aim was to have light bouncing around the walls and flooding the room with light especially during sunny days.
We used bright colours to add depth to the space.
We introduced the green colour spectrum as nature in the form of plants and natural bark and blues in the form of soft furnishings. In addition to these colours, we also introduced muted yellow in the form of a sofa to add a playful twist to the design
The end result was a space that was relaxing but fun where the client can entertain as well as enjoying their downtime moments.
